Our Project
STEMSpark "sparks" kids interests in stem via hands on activities and classes. We fervently believe that the best way for to learn is through doing. Our classes and lessons embody this principal. There is a cronic lack of STEM education in many schools around the world, all while STEM is an expanding field that offers many potential opportunities to students. If you want to join us in our fight, please contact us and find out how to become an ambassador!
What do we teach the "sparkies"?

STEMSpark teaches kids about circuits and electricity through building a circuit. The kids go on a journey of discovery, building and creating systems that they have never known before, as well as discovering new topics that they have never seen before in class.

What does an example STEMSpark class look like?
-
For one class, the first step is just a short, two minute, mini-lesson on circuits and electricity. We know that the attention spans of those kiddos are very short, so we have specially designed it to make it as engaging as possible to our young audience.
-
The kiddos are given a short task, to build a working circuit that causes a light to light up. This may sound difficult at first, but we provide as much help as needed for any munchkins who are taking a more cautious path.
3. The third step is another short two minute mini lesson which is engaging and interesting for the kiddos. In this they learn about how circuitry affects their lives, through an everyday object, a stoplight. The kids learn about how a stoplight works and the basic circuitry involved.
4. The fourth part is always the kids favorites, as they get to build a stoplight of their very own. Each kid is given a board, a switch, a battery, and three lights. Each piece has wires branching off of it that the kiddos have to connect with it's opposite number, which is the same color. We walk younger ages through this process methodically, explaining each piece and where it goes, but with older elementary school grades we let them use their brilliant minds and help out where we need to.
